Pre-Shadow Begins June 13, 2026

As Mercury enters its pre-shadow phase, it will be at 15 degrees Gemini. This is another comfortable placement for Mercury Retrograde, especially since Mercury is the ruling planet of Gemini. This retrograde instigates an intense quest for understanding, combined with a chameleon-like adaptability to changing surroundings. It also allows us to experience different frequencies of thought simultaneously, making it easier to recognise and navigate hypocrisy better than any other sign of the zodiac.

Mercury retrograding through Gemini creates an agile communicator. Thoughts can be disjointed at times, but the overall essence of an idea is usually understood. The challenge lies in pulling everything together into a coherent whole. Overthinking is the main pitfall to be aware of.

Writing, poetry, and music are particular strengths of this retrograde.

With Mercury in square to Saturn, Pallas, and Vesta, there is a strong urge to share our thoughts, ideas, or plans for the future. The problem is that we can become all talk and little action. These squares create procrastination and distractions that may prevent us from carrying out what we say we will do. Overthinking or overlooking important details could also become an issue.

In sextile to the Moon and Mars, Mercury's pre-shadow phase can be quite focused. However, there is a tendency to act or speak too quickly without fully thinking things through. Equally, overthinking remains a recurring theme throughout the entire retrograde process.

Mercury's pre-shadow will also be in quincunx to the Black Moon Lilith. This is where we encounter a blind spot or where the shadow is buried. It suggests that we must acknowledge and accept the part we play in any problems we experience with others, or in any difficult circumstances we may find ourselves facing.

Mercury Retrograde Begins June 29, 2026

Mercury enters full retrograde at 25 degrees Gemini. In sextile to Mars and Uranus, there is an opportunity for productive reflection, allowing us to clear old backlogs and achieve sudden mental breakthroughs through innovative thinking. Watch out for those unexpected "aha" moments.

A T-square is also in formation on this day involving Mercury Retrograde. Mercury conjunct Jupiter creates expansive thinking and broad-mindedness. This is often referred to as a "Jack of all trades" aspect, which can sometimes signify a "master of none." As a result, we may miss important details by focusing too heavily on the bigger picture.

Both Jupiter and Mercury will be in opposition to Pluto and Juno, highlighting a need to re-evaluate commitments, agreements, or soul contracts. Communication breakdowns are likely, alongside some form of return from the past.

With all planets involved in square to Chiron, the Wounded Healer, miscommunications are likely to trigger unhealed wounds. Jupiter's influence may amplify these emotional responses, making them feel overwhelming for some. Since this T-square creates a crisis point involving Pluto, we are being forced to confront old wounds in order to reclaim our personal power. If these wounds are ignored or left unresolved, the result may be self-sabotage.

The Black Moon Lilith will also be in opposition to Ceres on this day, causing issues surrounding abuse or neglect; whether from childhood or current circumstances, to rise to the surface. Feelings of being misunderstood may also be amplified under this aspect, particularly in relation to parenting, health, and dietary matters.

Mercury Retrograde Ends, Post-Shadow Begins July 23, 2026

As Mercury's retrograde phase comes to an end, the post-shadow period begins. This phase lasts until Mercury reaches the degree at which the retrograde originally started: 25 degrees Gemini.

Mercury's post-shadow phase once again forms squares to Saturn, Pallas, and Vesta, where ideas and plans may encounter obstacles, delays, or self-doubt. These aspects can create a frustrating atmosphere.

However, Saturn will be in sextile to Uranus and Venus, offering opportunities for progress, provided we are willing to remain patient and take a long-term approach. In matters of relationships and finances, Venus's sextile offers an opportunity to realign the mind and heart by reviewing the past and integrating the lessons learned from previous experiences.

At the same time, Venus will be in quincunx to Saturn, suggesting that self-doubt or a blind spot may prevent us from seeing the past clearly. Perfectionism is likely to be at the root of this. We must be both honest and objective in our reassessments.

A T-square is also in formation on this day involving Mars, Ceres, and the Black Moon Lilith, all in square to Venus. Combined with the Sun-Jupiter conjunction, there is a tendency towards self-absorption, oversensitivity, or argumentativeness. A restless energy is present, and pent-up frustrations will require a physical outlet. A visit to the gym or some form of exercise can help prevent stagnant energy from building up.

Mercury Post-Shadow Ends August 7, 2026

Mercury reaches 25 degrees Gemini once again, the point at which the full retrograde began, officially concluding all three phases of this Mercury Retrograde cycle.

We also return to the T-square formation involving Mercury, Pluto, and Juno, all in square to Chiron, where miscommunications are once again likely if old wounds have not been acknowledged and addressed.

On this day, a Yod is formed with Chiron in sextile to the North Node, creating an opportunity to move forward from old wounds. With Mercury now direct, we may be in a much better position to do so. However, because both points are in quincunx to Chiron, the process is not straightforward. Chiron represents the wound that never fully heals, yet it is also the source of profound wisdom and healing potential if we can make peace with ourselves and our past.

Unfortunately, the misaligned energy of the quincunx often leads towards self-sabotage and procrastination rather than productive healing. This can create a triggering period in which self-worth feels diminished, leaving us overly dependent on the opinions of others rather than developing confidence in ourselves.

A Kite aspect is also active on this day. Overall, this configuration heightens intuition and allows us to see hidden motives in others more clearly. We may be excellent listeners when it comes to the suffering of others, yet struggle to address our own.

If we find ourselves distrusting others or unable to be honest about our own pain, it is important to find a healthy outlet, whether through creative expression or by seeking support from a professional therapist whose role is to provide a confidential and supportive environment.

This Kite aspect offers significant clarity, warmth, and creativity, provided we are willing to be honest, at least with ourselves.

As the Black Moon Lilith opposes Mercury, there is a danger of speaking impulsively or projecting our own issues onto others rather than acknowledging the role we play in disputes or misunderstandings.

If we emerge from this retrograde process knowing we have done the best we could, then we will have achieved a great deal, even if the journey itself feels like an endless cycle of stops and starts. Maintaining a healthy belief in ourselves, combined with honesty and clarity, will create the best possible outcome.
